A clinical and widely adopted text, this clinical reference book is a premier guide to understanding and treating a variety of psychological disorders in adults.  The editor and his colleagues showcase evidence-based psychotherapy models by presenting state-of-the-art information on each clinical problem, and explain the conceptual and empirical bases of their therapeutic approaches.  Both students and practitioners alike have their question, "How do I do it?" answered.  Procedures for assessment, case formulation, treatment planning, and intervention are discussed.  Case examples with session transcripts are also included with each component of treatment.

5th Edition Includes:

  • Treatment innovations, the latest empirical findings, and changes to diagnostic criteria in DSM-5.
  • Chapter on acceptance-based treatment of generalized anxiety disorder.
  • Chapter on comorbid depression and substance abuse, demonstrating a transdiagnostic approach.
  • Chapter on sleep disorders.
