About the Author


Martin C. McGurrin, PhD, is currently Clinical Associate and Senior Research Scientist with the Department of Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He also maintains a private practice in psychotherapy in which he specializes in treating pathological gambling, eating disorders, and personality disorders.  Dr. McGurrin has written numerous articles and book chapters on pathological gambling, which have been published nationally and internationally.  He is a past President of The Pennsylvania Council on Problem Gambling (1989-1990) and currently serves that organization as Treasurer.  He is also a member of The National Council on Problem Gambling's Advisory Board.  He has co-edited a special issue of the Journal of Gambling Studies on the theme of Public Policy and Gambling, to be published in Spring 1992.  The author is a Member of the American Psychological Association.  He is also a Fellow, Board Chair of Internal Affairs, and member of the Executive Council of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association.
