About the Author

    Rise VanFleet, PhD, is founder and President of the Family Enhancement & Play Therapy Center, Inc. in Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania, an organization specializing in the training and supervision of child, family, and play therapy professionals.  A licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania, Dr VanFleet is also a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and a Past President/Board Chair of the Association for Play Therapy. She specializes in strengthening family relationships, the psychosocial impact of chronic medical illness, and child/family trauma. She is a well-known speaker, teacher, and author throughout North America and abroad.
   Dr. VanFleet has over 30 years of clinical, supervisory, and leadership experience in community mental health, health care, education, and independent practice settings. She has trained and supervised over thousands of clinicians, and her materials have been used by professionals and families in over 40 countries.
  She also authored A Parent's Handbook of Filial Play Therapy, coedited the Casebook of Filial Therapy (with Louise Guerney), and coauthored Play Therapy for Traumatic Events (with Heidi Kaduson and Janine Shelby). Dr. VanFleet's writings have been translated into five languages, and she is featured on three video workshops on filial therapy and play therapy.
In addition to her work in the family therapy field, Dr. VanFleet is an accomplished pianist and an award-winning nature photographer specializing in Alaskan wildlife.
