About the Author

    John D. Weaver, ACSW, is a licensed clinical social worker currently serving as Casework Supervisor for Northamptom County Mental Health and as a part-time therapist with Concern, an outpatient mental health clinic, both in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.  Mr. Weaver has served as a member of the adjunct faculties of Marywood College School of Social Work, Lehigh Valley Campus, and of the Northampton Community College, Bethlehem.  He also maintains a private consulting practice specializing in mental health and crisis intervention services and risk management related training.
    Mr. Weaver received his Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania.  He has written several articles and one earlier book, An Untapped Resource: Working With Volunteers Who Are Mentally Ill (MBA Publishing).  Throughout his career, he has been an active volunteer with the American Red Cross and has assisted at several local and national disasters including the Mississippi River/Midwest floods of 1993, and the 1994 crash of USAir Flight 427.
