About the Authors

J. Reid Meloy, PhD, is a clinical and forensic psychologist in both public and private practice.  He is Chief of Forensic Mental Health Services for San Diego County, California; Adjunct Professor at the University of San Diego School of Law; and Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine.  Dr. Meloy has authored numerous articles that have appeared in both forensic and psychoanalytic journals, and his first book, The Psychopathic Mind: Origins, Dynamics, and Treatment (Aronson, 1988), has been widely praised.  He is a member of the American Psychological Association and a Fellow of the Society for Personality Assessment.

Ansar Haroun, MD, is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCSD School of Medicine and a consultant to the Superior Court of the State of California.  He first came to the United States as a Roosevelt Scholar, taking his psychiatric training at Yale Medical School, his pediatric psychiatry training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons,  and his public health/psychiatric epidemiology training at the Yale School of Public Health.  He initially learned about the law from his father, a barrister, but started formal medicolegal work at Columbia University's Sexual Behavior Clinic.  He is board certified in psychiatry and child-adolescent psychiatry.

Eugene F. Schiller, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is currently Program Manager for the San Diego County Mental Health Conditional Release Program.  He also maintains a private practice specializing in children, adolescents, and families and serves as a testing commissioner and consultant for the State of California Board of Behavioral Science Examiners.  Mr. Schiller is a Certified Flight Instructor and consults in the area of aviation safety.  he completed his Masters in Social Work at San Diego State University and is currently enrolled in the doctoral program in Clinical Psychology at United States International University.
